I am the Weekend Weather Anchor at KHAS-TV, News 5 in Hastings. My duties include making my own forecast, creating graphics, putting a show together, creating web forecasts, posting forecasts on our social media pages, recording radio forecasts that play on local radio stations, and more. Forecasting in the middle of Tornado Alley, I have done numerous severe weather cut-ins, including tornado warnings, and severe thunderstorm warnings. I have also done numerous live shots during blizzard conditions in Nebraska. I fill-in for the morning and evening shows often. The morning show consists of an hour long show, with weather forecasts every five minutes. We also have live cut-ins throughout the morning, during the Today Show. I have learned how to adapt to the different show formats and personalities of each show. I'm also a member of the Great Plains Severe Weather Team, our storm chasing team. I also did over a year-long weather and news internship at KMGH, 7News in Denver, where I was able to shadow and learn from top meteorologists. I hope to acquire my meteorology degree in the future and become certified, as well. |
